Built in 1886 by a prominent local merchant, James H. Francis,, it is the only stone building with authentic French Second Empire architecture in Napa County.

Later it became Calistoga's hospital. This picture was taken before restoration began.

While some of the original woodwork could be salvaged, a good portion had to be remade. Since the house is on the historic registry, everything had to be as original as possible. As heartwood redwood is also a thing of history, the new work was all done in mahogany.
